A creative explosion of Brazilian instrumental music
Released in 2010, Galinha Caipira Completa is the result of a unique collaboration between four musicians with diverse backgrounds and a remarkable musical affinity. The group — Márcio Marinho (cavaquinho), Rafael dos Anjos (guitar), Hamilton Pinheiro (bass), and Rafael dos Santos (drums) — uses Brazilian music as a starting point to explore the full potential of instrumental expression through bold and inventive arrangements.
Inspired by the innovative spirit of mandolinist Hamilton de Holanda, the quartet dives into a sonic universe where virtuosity meets spontaneity. The music flows with energy, precision, and a clear desire to go beyond the conventional — resulting in a sound that is both refined and unpredictable.
At the heart of this project is the creative virtuosity of Márcio Marinho, whose cavaquinho playing breaks traditional boundaries. He is joined by Rafael dos Anjos, whose musical ideas are bold and sophisticated, while Hamilton Pinheiro and Rafael dos Santos form a rock-solid rhythmic foundation — dynamic, responsive, and deeply connected. Their interaction is intuitive and electric, marked by mutual listening and a shared sense of purpose.
Galinha Caipira Completa is, above all, an album that celebrates risk and discovery. It’s a study in musical dialogue, where each instrument is given space to explore, yet the group remains cohesive. The artistic goal is clear: to create Brazilian instrumental music with freedom, boldness, and technical excellence — without losing the joy of playing together.
